Security Contract: Egbema Youths threaten to shutdown OMS operation

By Ebi Perekeme

Egbema Youth Network (EYN), in Warri North Local Government Area of Delta State, has on Tuesday, threatened to shut down Ocean Marine Solutions (OMS) operations in Egbema kingdom.

The group also stated that the company has ignored them in their contract arrangement amongst other development.

GbaramatuVoice had reported that the Central Youth Body and the leadership of various communities in Warri South-West and Burutu Local Government Area, in the state, last week, also threatened to unleash mayhem on the company’s operation if it failed to address their demand.

However, in a statement made available to newsmen after a meeting held in Warri and signed by its Coordinator, Comrade Keme Elebiri, PRO, Monday Asekutu and Secretary, Blackman Super, the youths alleged that they have been neglected and are not recognised in the activities of the security company.

According to the statement, “We, therefore, gives 48 hours to the management of Ocean Marine Solutions Limited to call for a meeting and address the great neglect done to the youths of Egbema kingdom.

“The youths have not benefited from OMS and we are demanding for rightful employment to the youths of the area.

“And we dare to say that economic activity around the area of the Egbema kingdom which includes all the oil companies and so on and so forth, will be stopped. All members of the Egbema Youth Network are fully mobilized.

“We have been the ones holding them back, that you don’t need to take‎ this kind of action at this time. There is visible anger. The oppression of OMS in the area would be stopped if the right thing is not done. Enough is enough.

“What we are asking is equal participation of the youths of Egbema kingdom in safeguarding the government assets. You can’t give a contract to a man who has not been to the area. We, therefore, give OMS 48 to do the needful or else face a mass action from the youths.”
