Otuaro said the family’s matriarch lived a very fufiled life which was reflected in the quality of children she produced and urged the family to sustain her legacy of humility and peace.

Responding, Ekanpou Enewaridideke on behalf of the family, thanked the Deputy Governor for finding time out of his tight schedule to identify with them at their moment of grief.

According to Ekanpou, “Our mother was a great storyteller, folklorist, philantthropist, community mobiliser, cultural activist, traditional hydrologist, meteorologist, community developer, etc, whose philosophy is to elevate man and move society forward, and whose death is a great loss to the world.

“A great fisherwoman the cream of whose life was devoted to the development and transformation of her community and the society at large.”

She is survived by four children, among whom Ekanpou Enewaridideke, a literary activist and poet, who won the 2004 Isidore Okpewho Prose Prize for Literature.

Burial arrangement will be announced by the family.
