Mulade charges GYC for a people-oriented leadership

The Ibe-sorimowei of Ancient Gbaramatu Kingdom, Chief Comrade Sheriff Mulade has hailed the newly elected Gbaramatu Youth Council, GYC for a peaceful and transparent election. He charged the new Exco led by its 4th President, Comrade Shedrack Onitsha Ebikeme to shun pride and sychophancy, but to be proactive and selfless in the administration of the Youth Council.

Speaking with newsmen in Warri on Saturday May 30, 2020 shortly after the election, Chief Mulade, the initiator and pioneer President of the GYC, noted that most youth presidents are always misled by sycophants and pride, while others use the position to enrich themselves to the detriment of youth development in the society.

He advised the GYC to be selfless in their approach to all matters and always listen to genuine advice and suggestions from senior comrades, past presidents, committed leaders, elders and chiefs from Gbaramatu kingdom.

Speaking further, Comrade mulade, who is also the National Coordinator of Center for Peace and Environmental Justice, CEPEJ, urged them to be proactive in all issues bordering on youth development such as, oppression, subversion of justice, violence, as well as environmental pollution by companies operating within the Kingdom.

He charged them to work with the Kingdom’s structure and authorities to manage such issues and to initiate realistic positive life changing programmes for youth development in Gbaramatu Kingdom.

Giving his support for the newly elected executives of Gbaramatu Youth Kingdom, GYC, he said his office is open at all times, and as the initiator, an ambassador of peace and the pioneer president of GYC, he is fully ready to help and give them the required advice to pilot the affairs of GYC to greater heights.

He said his vision and dream for Gbaramatu Kingdom youth is to have a formidable, dependable, reliable and purposeful youth leadership that would pilot the affairs of the youths to peacefully demand for their rights through developmental needs such as education, environmental justice, job opportunities and political emancipation, among others.

The election of the new executive of Gbaramatu Youth Council GYC was attended by many youths and delegates from variuos communities across the kingdom, including community chairmen, youth presidents, student union executives and traditional chiefs representing the palace of Gbaramatu Kingdom. The election was held at Oporoza, the traditional headquarters of the ancient Gbaramatu Kingdom, on Friday – Saturday May 29-30, 2020.

Chief Mulade thanked the immediate past President, Comrade Christopher Wuruyai and his Cabinet for the peaceful conduct of the congress, elections and inauguration of the new executives of GYC.
