Investigate Warri Escravos and Forcados Central Youths – Gbaramatu-OMS communities tell govt

By Ebi Perekeme

The Chairmen of Gbaramatu-Ocean Marine Solutions Ltd communities have called on the Federal Government to investigate the activities of a self-styled group, Warri Escravos and Forcados Central Youths to unravel their mission.

The call was contained in a press statement yesterday signed on behalf of the Chairmen by their leader, Chief Moses Bebenimibo, Chairman, Kunukunuma Federated Communities while responding to media reports of the group.

The Chairmen insisted that the activities of the youth group is the handiwork of a fifth columnist.

The statement read on part, “We wish to express our displeasures and disappointments over recent activities , on the on-going peaceful oil facilities surveillance contract being executed by Captain Hosa Okunbor’s Ocean Marine Solutions Limited in Escravos and Forcados.

“Ordinarily, we would not have dignified the group with a response. But, on a second thought, we saw a reason to inform the general public, especially those that may believe and be sympathetic to the group’s evil machination.

“It is no longer a secret that Ocean Marine Solutions Ltd in conjunction with various oil-bearing communities’ leadership for about five years now, has successfully secured oil facilities in Escravos and environs. There has not been acrimony and rancor since this contract was awarded to the company.

“It is worthy of note that the communities’ leadership has always find peaceful means in resolving issues that likely arise. For us, that is the most acceptable way to resolve industrial issues and not by obvious blackmail and name dropping.

“To the best of our knowledge, community youths are the most beneficiaries of the job slots given out by the contractor. It is pertinent to mention here that there is no way all the community youths will be engaged in just one surveillance contract. But we make bold to say that majority of our youths are benefiting from the contract.

“It is a well known fact that, it was the success of the contract at Escravos and Environs that earned Ocean Marine Solutions Ltd the Forcados axis of the same contract, which was being handled by another contractor last year. This is a clear testimony of hard work and dedication to duty.

“We wish to at this juncture call on Nigerian security agencies to investigate the activities of this group to unravel those that are behind them as this contract has lasted for about five years as we earlier mentioned. So, what has gone wrong now, that led to this sudden attack by the group? Where was this group in the last five years? It is obvious that this group is a fifth columnist that is trying to discredit the good work of Ocean Marine Solutions Ltd and its Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Captain Hosa Okunbor.” The statement added.

The Chairmen appealed to the Federal Government of Nigeria to continue to support the company to discharge its duty, particularly in this time of the outbreak of Covid-19 pandemic that may likely affect our economy.
