By Ebi Perekeme

The Gbaramatu Kingdom in Delta state has said that there is no rancour in the area as the #EndSARS protest escalate.

The Kingdom said that it would support any genuine cause and that the general public should eschew fake videos in circulation in which gunmen were being seen.

Spokesman of the kingdom said that they do not have gunmen in the creeks, hence the video was null and void.

This was contained in statement by the Gbaramatu Traditional Council of Chiefs, Gbaramatu Kingdom, Warri South-West LGA, on Oct 21.

Chief Godspower Gbenekama T.DA.(JP), Fiyewei of Gbaramutu kingdom, said, “We have warned about a trending video of Gunmen boats which has spread like wildfire in the social media, stating that it did not emanate from the Creeks around Gbaramatu Kingdom and it is an old Video of the pre-amnesty times of the niger Delta agitation which was not even shot arround Gbaramutu kingdom then.”

Spokesman of Gbaramatu Traditional Council of Chiefs, Chief Gbenekama made the call in a press statement made available to newsmen on Wednesday in Abuja, reacting to a purported video and rumours that the Niger Deltans are prepared for confrontation with the government over the EndSARS Protest.

The statement also set records straight over the recent first appearance of the Niger Delta leader High chief Government Ekpemupolo alias Tompolo after six years, adding that Tompolo is a Peace loving leader who now believes in dialogue and civil approach to issues affecting the region.

He added that even during the period of Tompolo’s, he helped to ensured that there was peace in Gbaramutu kingdom, and relative peace accross the Nigerdelta.

According to Amb. Gbenekama, this does not mean that we are comfortable with some issues affecting us as Nigerians and Nigerdelta people,as could be seen in our recent agitations which is still on,despite the fact that the government at all levels have been decieving us on a date for dialogue, Gbaramutu as a people would never allow its citizens to go the arms way.

He noted that there is military presence with House boats in the terrain and they can attest to the fact that nothing of such is going on and there has never been any form of arms display within Gbaramatu kingdom or any other Ijaw kingdoms “that are linked or close to us”

According to the spokesperson, “As far as we are concerned, HRM, Oboro Gbaraun 11, Aketekpe, Agadagba. The Pere of Gbaramatu kingdom would not allow any form arms agitation and all of us his subjects are keying into the royal dirrectives.

“Though this our peaceful disposition should not be taken for granted as we are still expecting government at all levels to answer us on issues they promised to engage us.”
