The people of Inikorogha community in Gbaramatu kingdom, Warri South West Local Government Area of Delta State have cried to the state government to save them from the flood in the community.

Some youths of the community with placards

Some of them interviewed told GbaramatuVoice correspondent Friday, that they can no longer access their homes due to the high level of flood water in the community.

They called on the Delta State Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa to come to their aid by addressing the perennial flooding in the community.

They appealed to the Delta State government, the National Emergency Maintenance Agency (NEMA) and other agencies to come to their assistance.

Speaking for the community, Chief Steady Ebiyai, the Amadiwei of Inikorogha and Mr. Arthur Pudie, Chairman of the community, said they need the help of the government to sandfill the community.

They lamented: “Flood has taken over our community. We move around through canoe boats, we are still experiencing flood. We need the intervention of the government to save us from the flood as economic activities has been grounded as you can see.

“Just one rainfall, everywhere in the community has turned to a river and we cannot move in and out of our houses, our houses are flooded, no where to sleep, what will be our fate when the rain continues intensely as predicted by the government.”
