Army unveils plan to recruit N’Delta youths into Special Forces

The Nigerian Army has said it will spare no effort in sensitising Niger-Delta youths in its recruitment drive for its Special Forces unit.

The Directorate of Army Recruitments, Resettlement and Reserves Brigadier General Akpan Henry Emmanuel made this known in Asaba, Delta State Capital.

He stated that the major objectives of the recruitment drive to Delta State was to educate, enlighten, campaign and sensitise the youth leaders in the state, just like  in the 36 States and F.C.T.

According to him, the exercise is  centred on “Special Forces Recruitment,” adding  that the training is always rigorous, and highly demanding.

He added that registration is free while registration is online as soon as the portal is open.

He said that 4 Credit Passes ‘O’ Level are needed including Mathematics and English Language for the new recruits between the ages of 18-22yrs.

His words: “The Chief of Army Staff directed that those to be recruited must be physically and mentally fit for the exercise. Any Personnel that takes part in that training can function well in any environment”.

“You must train yourself beyond the endurance training. You need mental training. That is, you are to tune your mind.

“This training is for every personnel not only to the recruits but for all. We urge you to convey this message to everyone, youths that want to join the Nigerian Army”.

Chairman, National Youth Council of Nigeria, Delta State Chapter, Kenneth Okorie, urged the army to provide a level playing field devoid of ethnic, religious sentiments to enable youths in the region enlist into the Special Forces unit.
