Delta Deputy Governor To Grace NAGS Convention

Delta State Deputy Governor, Barrister Kingsley Otuaro is expected to be special guest of honour at this year’s convention of National Association of Gbaramatu Students, NAGS, slated for June 30 and July 1, 2017 at Kurutie community, Gbaramatu kingdom.

Commissioner representing Ijaw ethnic nationality at Delta State Oil Producing Area Development Commission, DESOPADEC, Chief Favour Izuokumor, is expected to be Chairman of the convention while His Royal Majesty, Oboro Gbaraun II, the Pere of Gbaramatu kingdom is Royal father of the day.

A statement jointly signed by NAGS President, Comr. Seiyefa Ekpemupolo and Convention Planning Committee Chairman, Sokoto Ebikonde Victor

Says the convention with the theme, “Scholarship for Niger Deltans, a veritable tool to regional emancipation” would feature Dr. Alfred Mulade, Dr. Ben Binebai and Dr. Bello Oboko as keynote speakers.

The statement which was made available to GbaramatuVoice in Warri further indicates that apart from discussing burning and peculiar issues that bother on the Niger Delta and the entire country by resource persons, the convention is expected to herald new leadership of the Association.

 “There will also be NAGS General Election and Inauguration and Break-out sessions (Panel discussion)”, the statement added.

According to the statement, the 2-day convention would also feature sports such as football, table tennis, scrabble, cooking competition, and would be climaxed with Award Dinner night, where students from Gbaramatu kingdom who have outstanding academic and social-economic achievement would be honoured. 

The Association members therefore appealed to well meaning Ijaws in the Niger Delta and Gbaramatu kingdom in particular to come to their aid by assisting them financially in order to make the convention a success.
