DUO FIGHT NDDC ON FOI

By Enaibo Asiayei

The duo of Jeremi Ombebe and Ayaware Oroupade have instituted a case against the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).

In the suit no: FHR/WR/CS/69/18, which the duo instituted at the Federal High Court sitting in Warri, they are asking the court among others to compel the respondent to file an audited report of all its financial records on the following projects: Canalization of Seitoru-Bulou/Ekametagbene Creek project in Bomadi Local Government Area of Delta State awarded to Weston Chivas Emoriume Limited; construction of concrete pavement walkway, Phase II at Ayakoromo in Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State and canalization of Oyangbene, Akparemogbene, Eseimogbene and Amasumo Creek project in Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State.

Ombebe and Oroupade also sought an order of mandamus compelling the NDDC to provide them with up to date information on the earlier mentioned projects.

The applicants hinged their case on the Freedom of Information act.

As it were, there has been no hearing on the case.
