DTHA 2019: I will make my intention public after my consultation – Chief Favour Izoukumor

…We have no preferred candidate – Edema, PDP Chairman

As the number of aspirants for the sole seat for Warri West West Local Government in the Delta state House of Assembly continues to increase by the day, Chief Favour Izoukumor, the commissioner, representing the Ijaw ethnic nationality at the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC) has stated that he has commenced constituency-wide consultation after which, he will make his position known.

Izoukumor stated this in a press conference on Thursday 17th, 2018 in Warri, Delta state where he among other things made it clear to the gathering that he was in the race to win.

According to him, a decision to represent your people should not be a one-sided decision as it is the people that will decide.

The above fact according to him informed his decision to call the press conference which officially marks the beginning of his consultation.

A move that is ignited following the persistent demands by the Warri South West Political Alliance, a pressure group made of both itsekiris and Ijaws in PDP calling on him to serve his people as they are of the opinion that governance is not about self-empowerment or enriching one’s self but impacting lives which they believe he is among the few that views governance from such perspective.

Also at the conference, Hon. Solomon Oyene, the Coordinator, Warri South West Political Alliance, stressed that it was an important day in the history of WSWPA as a political pressure group which comprises of a group of intelligent people from the Ijaw and itsekiri blocks that have come together to forge a political front and thereafter went ahead to state their major objectives as peace building, unity and development among themselves.

“We all know that people are still suffering, that is why we have come together to plead with our mentor and principal, Chief Favour Izoukumor to come and wipe our tears by accepting our request to represent us.

As part of the planned programme for the day, Chief Favour and his group paid a consultation visit to the PDP Warri South West Local Government Executives at the Bridgeview hotela, Warri.

Responding, Hon. Johnbull Edema, the PDP chairman, Warri South West Local Government Area while speaking on behalf of his Executives, welcomed Chief Favour and his group and encouraged him to consult widely.

He finally reiterated the party’s resolve to provide a level playing ground for willing aspirants while adding that no special preference would be given to one candidate over the other.
