Dignitaries flood Sapele as Warri North council chairman, Asekutu, commences burial rites for late father

The Chairman of Warri North Local Government Area of Delta state, Hon. Captain Smart Olorunyomi Asekutu, on Wednesday, February 15, 2023, hosted friends and well wishers to a social outing at the Sapele Athletic Club in Sapele, in honour of his late octogenarian father, High Chief Simeon Ukoko Ominijeh, Bebekurowei of Egbema kingdom.

Late High Chief Simeon Ukoko passed on December 17, 2022 at the ripe age of 83 years.

The social outing which formed the first part of the three days funeral ceremony had in attendance distinguished dignitaries made up of the Delta State People Democratic Party (PDP) top echelon, captains of industries, revered royal and revered men of God from both Ijaw, Itsekiri and Urhobo communities within and outside the state.

Speaking to GbaramatuVoice during the social outing Hon. Smart Asekutu, who doubles as the first child of the departed High Chief, explained that the gathering was to celebrate not just the passage of his late father but to celebrate his life as he was a rare breed. He added that his father was a man who loved his family, served his community.

Niger Delta King of Highlife, Chief Barrister Soja Smooth aka Paddle, the Midiaka Cultural Dancers, Itsekiri Traditional Dancers, amongst others were on ground to provide melodious rhythms to the guests.

Present at the social outing programme include the Senatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for Delta South Senatorial District, Hon. Prince Michael Diden aka Ejele; High Chief Tunde Smooth, the Bolowei of Niger Delta; Pastor Phillip Gbason, Former Executive Director, Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission ( DESOPADEC); Chief Dan Ekpebide; Chief Ebi Eyenmi (JP), the Ibe-Egbewei of Egbema Kingdom; Comrade Monday Agbeyi (Phd), Treasurer Warri North Local Government;

Others are Hon. Emmanuel Omoko aka Alhaji, Bolowei of Egbema Kingdom; Prince Tuoyo Omatseye, Engr. Plus Donyegha, family members, among others.
