DESPITE RECESSION, TOMONE’S NGO EARMARKED 300 YOUTHS FOR DIFFERENT VOCATIONAL SKILLS IN DELTA

OGULAGHA-Fired by the desire to positively affect the lives of Youths in Nigeria, a Niger Delta based Non-Governmental Organization, One Love Community Development and Promotion of Peace Initiative, OLCDPPI have earmarked no fewer than 300 youths to acquire different vocational skills.

Founder of the NGO, Apostle (Dr.) Godspower Tomone made the remark during an orientation programme organized for the youths at the Youbebe community town hall, in Ogulagha kingdom, Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State.

Giving a breakdown of the youth empowerment campaign, Dr. Godspower asserted that the training of the youths where in phases, stressing that his NGO with the successful orientation of over 200 youths last week, the chapter of orienting the youths has been closed as it would now focused on engaging them in different vocational skills and possibly to acquire formal education.

“This we will do according to what the participants wishes to acquire, we have actually earmarked 300 youths to be sent to acquire different vocational skills, a point must be made known that their training will begin 2017” Tomone said.

According to him, the various areas participants are expected to be trained in 2017 includes
welding, fabrication, scaffolding, heavy equipment operation, diving, driving, fashion design, hairdressing, tailoring, Fabric making, aluminum production and fitting.

He further stated that OLCDPPI will provide starter packs for successful candidates that passed through the fore walls of the empowerment programme in 2017 to start up their various businesses.

The philanthropist maintains that his ultimate aim is to see that the youths who have been axiomatically described as leaders of tomorrow where engaged meaningfully such that they don’t have the time to engage in negative activities.

“We believe that by engaging them continually through this programme, we will be helping our communities, State, Local Government, Niger Delta and the entire country in building the much needed peace that will bring economic and political stability in the nation ” Apostle stated.
