King Efeizomor who spoke on behalf the Delta North traditional rulers stated that they would give their full support to the Ijaws of Delta South Senatorial district if they have a sellable and credible candidate in the 2023 governorship election in the state.

He stated that the Ijaws are their brothers and, as such, they will do anything within their powers to support them in the 2023 governorship election.

He maintained that the Ijaws are known to be people of good heart, adding that for them to have the courage and goodwill to visit them, whatever they tell the Ijaws to do to promote their areas in terms of development, they would do it.

According to him, “My prayers since 1957 till date as a royal father is let God assign the credible ones on the various offices for perfection.

“I have been ruling as a royal father for a long period of time, I have met with different caliber of people, good and bad. So we will not want people without regards to rule us, because we, the traditional rulers, live by respect.”

He added: “I have slept in Akugbene, I have slept, not only in the kingdom but in his own house, it shows that if your son becomes the governor and you told him that this is what I want you to do for this people, he will do it, so, on behalf of my colleagues, our case is simple, we concur and we will support you, if you have ‘credible and sellable candidate’ like Governor Ifeanyi Okowa. Because tomorrow is another day. The case is simple.”

However, the Chairman of Delta State Ijaw Traditional Rulers, HRM, Capt. Joseph Timiyan JP, Ibenanaowei of Ogulagha kingdom, during the visit, had earlier pleaded for mass support for their Ijaw governorship candidates.

He said: “In one accord, we the royal fathers from the Southern Ijaw have come, and this event had made me to flash back on past event in 2015. When our respected traditional ruler (Obi of Owa) and the immediate vice chairman of Delta State Traditional Rulers council visited us in the South in other to support your governorship aspirant. Similarly, we have come the way you came in 2015.

“Respect is reciprocal and the ‘way dog dey fall for each other, na him make dog play dey sweet.’ As we fall for you by supporting your candidates in mass, so we plead for you to fall for us en masse by supporting our Ijaw governorship candidates.

“The good people of Ijaw in the Delta South are so respectful, obeying constitution, respect colleagues and their royal fathers. Yes, they listened to us in the past by not arguing with your aspirants in this democratic era since the existence of Delta State.

“We supported Chief Onanefe Ibori, Udughan and Ifeanyi Okowa, which they succeeded by our massive vote.

“We, the Royal Fathers of the Delta South are here to plead with you in order for you to support our candidates en masse as we have done in the past,” he added.
