DELTA COMMISSIONER STORMED GBARAMATU, WITNESSED BENIKRUKRU COMMUNITY ELECTION

The commissioner for youths development, Delta State, Hon. Asupa Peter Forteta have yesterday stormed the Oboro Ultramodern Multipurpose Playground, Benikurukuru, an oil producing community in Gbaramatu Kingdom, Warri South West Local Government Area of Delta State to witness the conduct of new community executives.

Hon. Forteta who was addressing members of the community and other dignitaries during the occasion maintains that the state government under the leadership of His Excellency, Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa is totally committed in spreading the prosperity agenda to all nook and cranny of the state. He however, thanked the people for their peaceful disposition in the transition process of the new executives.

In his goodwill message to the newly elected members, “I want to thank everybody, particularly the new Executives for the manner in which they conducted themselves. During the election, there was peace, confidence and joy. Please, remember that the community elected you for a purpose. Remember them, always be your brothers keeper, love one another, cary everybody along. If you do that, you are helping the Community, Kingdom, state and Nigeria at large” Asupa maintains.

In an interview with Gbaramatu Voice Newspaper, the commissioner alleged that the Delta State government under the leadership of Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa is always willing to develop the rural communities which includes Gbaramatu Kingdom

“The presence of government here is nothing more than to ensure that there is peace and harmony among the communities in Gbaramatu Kingdom and whenever there is election like this, government will always want to put its presence because of the importance of this area. You know, this is an Escravos area, were you have lots of oil facilities. If there is no peaceful elections and the youths begin to make problems, that will cause a big problem to the government. We are happy that the election went well and the winners emerge, and there was no rancour of any sort. 

“The government is always thinking of developing all these areas, as a government, we have a special intervention agency, to ensure that this oil communities, in spite of the State budget, the State intervention agency like DESOPADEC, will ensure that it carries out infrastructural development. Government will ensure that there is development in this place.” The commissioner alleged

On developing the youths of the areas through his office as a commissioner of youths, Hon. Forteta added “The development of youths is not just particularly for one community, its a state affair and the state has a SMART AGENDA for the development of youths through our ongoing programmes, a lot of people were taken from these areas too, and we will continue to ensure that they are accommodated so that they can be employed and become employers of people.”

The commissioner however, charged the newly elected executives to see their emergence as a call to service, he particularly task them to build an egalitarian leadership that will be all embracing.

Gbaramatu Voice Newspaper learnt that out of the 12 Executive members newly elected yesterday records three females and 9 males.

Giving the breakdown of the newly elected members, Arch. Azaiye Piniki, Chairman of the Benikrukru community electoral committee explains the rigorous processes that led to the emergence of the executives, adding that it was done within the ambit of the community’s customs and traditions.

The Benikuruku Executive members includes MR. Olufemi R. Godwin, Chairman; Mr. Ebimie Ogio Okirika, Vice Chairman; Deacon Gbenekama Prince Isaiah, Secretary General; Miss Akafawei Ereayefa Hope, Assistant Secretary; Mr. Tonjoh Amarede Joel, Public Relation Officer; Comr.Churchill Ojo, Assistant Public Relation Officer; Mrs. Okpoye Patience, Financial Secretary; Mr. Ojogun Abraham, Treasurer; Mrs. Boyetie T. Mercy, Chief Whip; Mr. Uyabor Tamaranbrakemi, Welfare Officer; Warebebe Ogodio Emmanuel, Internal Auditor and Tonlagha Dode, Organizing Secretary.

The electoral Chairman, Arch.Azaiye Piniki stated that the newly elected executives are to be sworn in on the 26th of October 2016.

Describing the election process, Arch. Piniki added “It was so peaceful. It was well planned out and the system has to do with the quarters, we have three quarters and those three quarters have to nominate persons of reasonable and good integrity. After nomination, it is left for the electoral committee to screen them to know if they they are fit to occupy the positions they are vying for. After screening, anyone we find wanting will be removed but as for these executives, we didn’t find any of them wanting, they were all good to go so we now presented them to the community which in turn accepted them, because they sent us.If we had two persons that were contending in one position we would have done election but since there was no such encounter, there wasn’t any election hence they where all returned unopposed.”

The electoral Chairman further expresses confidence on the emergence of the new executives, stressing that the chairman and his cabinet will no doubt move the community forward.

“My message to them is that if there is anybody that is aggrieved, they should constitute a reconciliation committee to reconcile all the aggrieved party.” Azaiye Asserted.

The Chairman elect, Benikrukru community, Mr. Godwin R. Olufemi in his acceptance speech promised the people of addressing their challenges, emphasising that he would not disappoint them, he particularly stated that his emergence will mark the dawn of a new era.

The Chairman elect dedicated his victory to the Almighty God, according to him, if not for God, he would not have emerged the chairman elect Benikrukru community in Gbaramatu Kingdom.
