Delta 2023 Governorship: Otuaro declares intention to succeed Okowa

…Expresses confidence people’s goodwill will help him prevail

As the 2023 political calendar is gradually approaching in the country, politicians and contenders for political positions are already declaring their intentions to create the necessary awareness.

Before now, GbaramtuVoice had reported that the Ijaws are clamouring for one of their kinsmen to get the number one political position in the state and replace the outgoing Governor of Delta State,  Senator Ifeanyi Okowa.

Although, Governor Okowa is yet to announce his successor and it is still early days to know if the governor will support his deputy to replace him or the ruling People Democratic Party, PDP, will zone the gubernatorial ticket to the Ijaw speaking part of Delta State.

The political atmosphere of Delta State for some time now have been a confusing one as both political pundits and observers are not sure if the zoning formula of the PDP will still be a yardstick in the scheme of things as many have stated that there is nothing like zoning but what existed is a gentleman’s agreement.

However, despite this unhazy situation, the Deputy Governor of Delta State, Barr. Kingsley Otuaro has signified his intention to run for governor of Delta State come 2023.

Otuaro announced this in a statement he issued to the press on Sunday saying that he intends to join hands with Deltans to build an “industrialized” state.

He said: “For the last eighteen months, I have been working behind closed doors incubating a vision God gave to me and mandated by Himself to consolidate progress and Build Better for Delta.

“Today, I RECONVENE before the MAJORITY OF ONE who gave the matching order and thanked Him profusely for the overwhelming support the people’s mandate has received so far — especially for the gift of faithful men and HIS awesome providence.

“As it was told me…I have received the blessings of the fathers and the youth have entrusted me with the mandate to lead them to the Delta of our dreams — an industrialized Delta.

“Though many may be the foes on the path to the promised Delta, I have great hope; the resilient and overcoming spirit of Delta (the Big Heart), our ingenuity, gift of resourcefulness, courage, and collective willpower as a people will override the storm and hoist the flag in a safe and prosperous land.

“In the weeks ahead, you will be seeing visible signs of my strategic plans towards consolidating the stronger Delta agenda and achieving an industrialized Delta. I will also be frequently engaging and sharing with you our activities as we make progress in our pursuit to secure the best deal for Delta.

“Let’s join hands together and decide forward and Build Better for Delta.”
