Death of seven female wedding guests in Bomadi: Questions Before Delta State Government

The GbaramatuVoice Management is alarmed that after over 48 hours news report of how seven innocent Deltans who were said to be returning from a wedding feast perished in a fatal motor accident along Orogun road in Ughelli North Local Government Area, the state has not deemed it necessary to visit the deceased families or at the very least, send word/statement of consoling the families.

Even as their burial date have been scheduled for Wednesday, August 25, 2021 in Bomadi town, state government officials are yet to visit the deceased families.

Essentially, as a responsive and responsible media organization, we are particularly pained by the fact that this is not the first time the state government is demonstrating such undeserving silence on issues.

From this awareness/concern, we are tempted to ask; are there lives that are more important than the others in the state? If not, why is it that the state government is in the habit of responding with the speed of lightening whenever misfortune befalls some certain personalities and from certain parts of the state? Why feeling less concerned when it happens to others? What offence did these innocent victims commit against the state government that qualified them to be ignored even in death? If critically examined, chances are that they may have voted for the present administration?

Making the matter worse is that their death may not be unconnected with the state government’s failure as most of the roads in the state are laced/riddled with pot holes. We are yet to fathom why the state government is delaying to commiserate with the deceased families even when the acting state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe, has confirmed the incident?

We hold the opinion that these accident victims and their families deserve a better deal/attention from the state government.
