CONFUSION AS MEND AND SISTER MILITANT GROUP KICKS AGAINST DELEGATION TO BE HEADED BY CLARK

*ADA Says no going back on declaration of Niger Delta Republic

*To launch Niger Delta Radio Station within two weeks

The Movement for the Emancipation of Niger Delta, MEND and its sister militant group Niger Delta Greenland Justice Mandate, NDGJM, have rejected the former federal information commissioner, Chief Edwin Kiagbodo Clark to play lead role as envoy to the region in discussing with the federal government.

MEND, have however, hailed members of the Niger Delta Avengers, NDA for the ceasefire to dialogue with the federal government while stating conditions with which they can be part of the peace talk otherwise they would allegedly disband its Aaron Team 2 should Chief Clark lead the team.

In a similar manner, a new militant group under the auspices of Niger Delta Greenland Justice Mandate, NDGJM, have also kicked against the Niger Delta Elder statesman Clark for what they described as “lack of trust ” while backing the Amanyanabo of Twon Brass, in Bayelsa State Alfred Diete-Spiff to lead negotiation team.

The group which spoke through its spokesperson , Aldo Agbalaja in a Press statement yesterday restated its resolve to continue vandalising oil pipelines in the country until the Buhari-led federal government meets their demands.

“We are also aware that there is a group(NDDCG), led by the Amanyanabo of Twon Brass, Alfred Diete-Spiff, which has the involvement of some International agencies, we would rather want the federal government to build on this group to reach out to the genuine representatives of the people of the region, across the six states, to discuss the way forward because we believe what is worth doing at all is worth doing well.

“Build on this group and reach out to our people, not on an Edwin Clark group, which had connived with Jonathan in the past to subject this region, including the majority of our Ijaw brothers, to one of the most untold humiliations by leaving the region they claimed to be representing worse than it was under previous administrations.

We are serving a notice that the Niger Delta Greenland Justice Mandate is still carrying on with this campaign against Nigeria’s oil and gas interest until the federal government does right.”  Aldo warns.

Meanwhile, in a swift reaction, a source that would not want his name to be mentioned in print alleged that MEND as a group does not exist as he accuses them of frustrating the peace drive of the Niger Delta region.

His words: “Chief Clark have received calls from well-meaning Nigerian leaders and the international community for the meeting that has defused tension in the region, while MEND stirring another tension, why are they still repeating that he is patron or sympathizer of NDA when he has debunked it.”

More worrisome is the Adaka Boro Avengers, ADA that have vowed to declare Niger Delta Republic come October 1st while distancing itself from any dialogue with the Federal Government.

Spokesperson of the group, Edmos Ayayeibo, who stated this in a statement yesterday, said all arrangements have been concluded for the success of the historic declaration, stressing, “there is no going back this time round.”

“We the Adaka Boro Avengers are throwing our weight behind the Niger Delta Avengers on the declaration of Niger Delta Republic come October 1. Our earlier abortion of the declaration was at the instance of the Niger Delta Republic. This time round, there’s no going back and Nigerians should expect a different country call Niger Delta Republic.” the statement asserted

The group dismissed any possible threat to its ambition, stressing, “the matter at hand is more than any police force or military personnels.”

It said it had concluded arrangements to launch the Niger Delta radio station in two weeks time and added that it would work with Biafra agitators to actualize their dream to run a continuous broadcast ahead of the October 1 declaration.

“Two weeks from today the Nigerian nation will hear our live broadcast from our radio station, the Niger Delta radio station, which will continue broadcast until the October 1 declaration. October 1, is a day we have set aside for history to be made in the world. So the Nigerian government should not try to stop us, because if they do, heads will roll and still history will be made.

“So, we are not afraid of anyone, police or military personnels, because our foreign backers are currently fighting with so many countries in the world without fear.

“Lastly, the whole nation will be destabilised. What the Niger Delta leaders should do now is to call their people in other states to return home immediately. Only restructuring of Nigerian nation will stop our October 1 declaration,” the statement concluded.

Nevertheless, the Ijaw National leader have come under a severe attack shortly after he convened a meeting of Niger Delta Coastal States with a view in bringing to an end the unabated bombings that is seemingly having a devastating effect on the country’s economy.

It was learnt that the meeting among many issues, condemned the bombings of critical national assets while urging all militant groups operating in the region to shield their swords to embrace the Federal  Government offer by giving peace a chance to dialogue with the Government meaningfully.
