•As It Is Marred With Irregularities

A call has gone for all the parties concerned to take a second look at the recently signed Global Memorandum of Understanding, GMoU, between Chevron Nigeria Limited and Egbema Gbaramatu Communities Development Foundation (EGCDF) as it was marred by irregularities and requires immediate review.

Making this call is Comr. Timi Oluba, an  Ijaw activist and youth leader in Gbaramatu Kingdom, Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State.

In his words, “It is a verifiable fact that what Chevron had given to fund the GMoU over the years was too poor and virtually short-changing the host communities.”

This according to him is why the entire oil producing and impacted communities in Egbema and Gbaramatu are demanding for 10 percent of Chevron’s annual production to fund the GMoU.

In his advice, the activist pointed out that the faulty GMoU must be critically reviewed to ensure that chairmen and secretaries of various oil producing and impacted communities also sign the GMoU with Chairman of EGCDF.

On his part, Jude Ukori, Chairman, Egbema-Gbaramatu Development Association must sign and copies of the reviewed GMoU be made available to each community.
