DELTA AT 26: Ijaws where art thy place? (Out of...

It is pitiable that out of the 20 listed campuses of higher institution, ONLY ONE is cited in an Ijaw community. What an insult to the Delta Ijaw communities? No further evidence do we need to prove that the successive administrations in Delta State are not interested in the educational development of the Ijaw people. The Nigerian Maritime University, Okerenkoko and the NIMASA Technical College, Okoloba, the only two institutions that were established in Delta Ijaw area with the efforts of former President, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, High Chief Government Ekpemupolo and the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency under the erstwhile leadership of our own persecuted son Mr. Partick Akpoboloukemi were made to suffer cancellations and setbacks.

THE VICE PRESIDENT’S TRIP TO DELTA: DID HE END UP DOING...

What message was the His Excellency sending just breezing in and out of our region? Are we lepers that our own Vice President cannot spend two or three days with us? Is the problem of the Niger Delta not enough for a Vice President or indeed a President, for that matter, to spend a full month with us getting to understand our conditions better while fostering in us a stronger sense of belonging in the process? Why the hurry? What message can a one day whirlwind trip send other than to give the impression of “let me just show my face there so they can’t complain we didn’t come?”
