Burutu PDP leaders pass vote of confidence on Gov Okowa, endorse him for second time

The Peoples Democratic Party,PDP leaders in Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State, on Friday passed a vote of confidence on Governor Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa, as well as, endorsed him for a second tenure, for his service delivery in the Council area.

This took place at an enlarged meeting held in Warri, where the member representing the people of Burutu Federal Constituency, Rt.Hon. Julius Pondi moved the motion for the vote of confidence on the governor, while also endorsing him for a second tenure.

The Federal lawmaker stated that the Governor has changed the dynamics and mentality of the people in the area and that he has brought rapid development to the council area, with projects such as; the ongoing construction of the Ayakoromo bridge,  Sokobulou/Oboto road projects, and ongoing Tamingbe/Ojobo road projects and others.

Moving the motion, he said “No one has ever given appointments to the people of Burutu, as we have now under Okowa administration. I hereby move that we pass a vote of confidence on our Governor, Sen.(Dr.)Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa. I so move”

The member representing the people Burutu South Constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. Kenneth Daubirir quickly seconded the motion moved by Rt. Hon. Julius Pondi, at the floor of the meeting.

His words “I second this motion because most of the governor’s strides are visible. It is true that Governor Okowa has approved N8billion for the construction of Tanmigbe/Ojobo road project and the contractor, Setraco has been mobilized to site with its equipment. There are several projects embarked upon by Okowa’s administration. I so, second the motion.”

The house unanimously adopted the motion after a voice-vote put forward by the Burutu PDP LGA Chairman, Hon. Ebike Oromoni.

The Burutu PDP LGA Chairman,Hon. Ebike Oromoni, urged leaders of the party as well as its supporters to embrace unity and love to move the party forward especially, as the 2019 draws near.

He said, “I thank the leaders for the support towards the party for the success in the last council elections. but I urge you political office holders from Burutu at all levels to carry every member along for unity and love of the party. 2019 is at hand. If we do not embrace the grassroots, who are the electorates, our opponents will give us a big battle even, if you win the primaries of our party. It is now one man, one vote”

The Burutu Council Chairman, Hon. Godknows Angele also thanked the leaders for the success of the last local government election in the council area. He promised to be loyal to the leadership of the party for unity and progress.

He enumerated some of his achievements within three months into office which include rehabilitation of council chairman and vice chairman residential quarters, provision of constant power supply with a generating plant since assumption of office.

Others, include the Purchase of ten million naira worth of health equipment to be distributed to the Health Centres in the council area as well as, recruitment of 120 women for the Environment department.

Angele noted that the criteria used for the employment of the women are possession of PVCs. He said he would surprise the leaders of the party in the council area and the state governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa in his 100 days in office through the unveiling of projects.

He explained that  Burutu is now an Island of no regret. Adding that governance is all about service delivery to the people for posterity.
