Niger Delta Revolutionary Crusaders, NDRC, a dreaded militant group, yesterday, warned Acting President Yemi Osinbajo not to allow governors of the South-South to hijack  his fact-finding mission to the oil-rich region for their political benefit.

The group, in a statement by its spokesperson,  W. O. I  Izon-Ebi, also lamented the silence of the Federal Government, Shell Petroleum Development Company, SPDC, and other stakeholders to the plight of the people of Oloibiri, Bayelsa State, the community where oil was first found in Nigeria.

The militants advised Osinbajo to put in confidence eminent fathers, leaders and distinguished personalities of the region, including chairman of Pan Niger Delta Forum, PANDEF, King Alfred Diete-Spiff, Minister of State for Petroleum, Dr Ibe Kachikwu and Chairman of Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, to ensure realization of set objectives.

The militant group alleged that the governors have a different agenda. On  Oloibiri, it said that the community was left out by all the groups in the various demands, adding that it was regrettable that this happened to the community that “fed the nation,  made Nigeria proud as an oil producing nation.

“Today, we are talking about the implementation of the United Nations Environmental Programme, UNEP report for the cleaning of Ogoni land. The government agreed to implement it  because all the oil wells  were shut down since the death of Ken Saro-Wiwa.

“There is still much oil in the land, so Shell and the Nigerian government still want to explore the oil.” In the case  of Oiloibiri, it is total inhuman act to mankind,” the group stated.
