2019: Activist challenge Buhari to ensure peace is experienced across Nigeria

A Niger Delta based peace and environmental rights advocate and the National Coordinator of the Center for Peace and Environmental Justice (CEPEJ), Comrade Sheriff Mulade, has challenged President Muhammadu Buhari to ensure that practical peace is experienced across Nigeria before, during and after the 2019 general elections calling on the Federal Government to ensure that arrangements are made to facilitate timely and efficient responses to conflict and crisis situations.

Mulade made this assertion as a participant at the Peace forum held in Paris.

He said; “Meaningful development can be actualised only when there is peace. Therefore, collective responsibility and effort is needed to achieve this in Nigeria.”

Comrade Mulade noted that President Buhari deserves commendations as Nigeria has repeatedly taken front stage in championing peace and security across Africa, adding that CEPEJ will continue to complement government’s effort at all levels to ensure the prevention, management and resolution of conflicts which CEPEJ is known for.

The human rights activist reiterated that it is important to state that all Nigerians must support and promote peace especially as the general elections are drawing closer, saying that other African countries are looking unto Nigeria as a role model capable of promoting peace, security and stability in Africa.
