2018 IJAW DAY: Many Reasons For Us To Thank God – Otuaro

The Deputy Governor of Delta state, Deacon (Barrister) Kingsley Burutu Otuaro has said the Ijaw Nation has so many reasons to thank God for what He has done for them.

He made this remark during the 21st Ijaw Day of Prayer, Praise and Thanksgiving with the theme, ‘The Prince of Peace’ organised by the Ijaw Christian Fellowship (ICF), Delta Chapter under the Chairmanship of Rev. Emmanuel Imeleye.

The programme which began with an opening prayer offered by Rev. Dr. (Mrs.) Irene Yelemi from Divine Heritage Global Gospel Ministries, was followed by praise and worship session.

The deputy governor who in his address, expressed his excitement to be present at the programme, promised to partner with the fellowship in the propagation of the gospel.

He said, “If we believe in God enough as the monarch of the universe, He is always ready to answer us. They are too many things to thank God for and we should be thankful.

“It is a honor to be associated with this fellowship (Ijaw Christian Fellowship) and I will do my best to contribute to the success of the fellowship.”

The programme witnessed prayer sessions led by various dignitaries present at the event.

Rev. Dr. I. C Tolar, the Grand Patron of the programme conducted the first prayer for the Ijaw Nation. It was followed by Archbishop G. E. Temekoga who conducted the second prayer session for traditional rulers and their kingdoms.

The Pere of Akugbene-Mein Kingdom of Delta state conducted the third prayer session where he prayed for the Delta state government. The prayer session was concluded by Pastor Philip Gbasin who prayed for the Nigeria nation.

The ceremony also witnessed praise and thanksgiving led by Barrister Otuaro in a dance procession as a show of happiness and appreciation to God.

The event also witnessed the presentation of Awards of Merit to the deputy governor; the Pere of Akugbene-Mein Kingdom; and Bini Pere III. the Agadagba of Egbema Kingdom, all of Delta state.

The Chairman of Ijaw Christian Fellowship, Rev. Emmanuel Imeleye in his speech said the ICF appreciated everyone present and apologized for the change of date as it was as a result of the local government elections that was held on the initial date.

He thanked God for the good things He has done for the Ijaw Nation, such as making an Ijaw man in the person of ex-President Goodluck Jonathan to become President of Nigeria and specifically making the Ijaws to produce a deputy governor for Delta state.

In his words, “God looked on us and gave us a deputy governor although sometimes ago it was even hard for an Ijaw man to become a councilor or a chairman.”

Those present at the 21st Ijaw Day are; His Excellency, Deacon (Barr ) Kingsley Burutu Otuaro, the Deputy Governor of Delta state; HRM Ogiame, Pere S.P. Luke Kalanama VIII, Pere of Akugbene-Mein Kingdom; HRM Bini Pere III (JP), the Agadagba of Egbema Kingdom; and HRM, Barr Shadrach P. Erebulu, Aduo III, Pere of Kabowei Kingdom.

Others are Alaowei Broderick Bozimor, former minister of Police Affairs; Rev. Dr. I.C. Tolar; Rev. Dr. O.J. Agbarah; Rev. Emmanuel Imeleye; Rev. Dr. Pere-Egbe Odogbo; Bishop Dr. Godwin Soroaye; Bishop Dr. Elijah  Likibe (JP); Bishop Felix E. Piniki; Apostle Newman Bebenimibo; Pst Preye Foh; Apostle Mike Ubebe; and other important dignitaries.
