…advises community to cultivate maintenance culture

…says all hands must be on deck to achieve further glory

As part of the celebration of his first one hundred days in office, Chairman of Burutu Local Government Council, Hon. Godknows Angele celebrated and commissioned several projects to commemorate his first 100 days in office with a thanksgiving.

The people of the local government joined the hardworking council boss, to pray for an accelerated development in the area.

Different men of God were on hand to pray against backwardness and, while also soliciting for divine support for the Chairman, in his efforts to initiate clear cut developmental agenda in his tenure.

Residents of Burutu and guests from different parts of the state, members and leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, converged on the venue of the thanksgiving service to felicitate with Hon. Angele on a successful first 100 days in office.

According to the people of the council area, the inter-denominational thanksgiving service was to appreciate God for having a God fearing man in charge of the council, adding that the situation depicts the cliche; “When the righteous rule, the people rejoice”

Hon. Angele, while addressing the audience, explained that when he resumed at the council, it was like a ghost island and that he promised himself that he would do everything within his powers to improve the lot of the people, even with the scarce resources available in the area.

‘‘I was worried seeing Burutu headquarter appeared like a Ghost Island, engulfed with darkness and nothing to show for it, when I first got here.

”I said to myself that, it was time to make the impossible, possible and prove what was wrong can be made right. And that also, we can use the resources of the council to make a meaningful impact in the council headquarters, as well as the communities under Burutu, so as to make life meaningful for them, in spite of the scarce resources at our disposal.

”We have to make a difference. In line with Governor Okowa’s Smart agenda, we were able to put in place all these projects we are about to commission here,” he stated.

Meanwhile, encomiums were poured on the Chairman, by different people, among whom were, the eldest man in Burutu community, Pa. Vincent Ekemieyefa, Joseph Ziakegha, Burutu community Chairman, Barr. Ekpese Benedict, the Chairman of the occasion, Hon. Tuedon Richard, the Chairman of Burutu League of Democrat; Mrs. Georgina Evah, former PDP state woman leader and Comrade Ebipade Pondi, all spoke at the occasion.

They all expressed gratitude to the council Chairman, Hon. Godknows Angele for retrieving the lost glory of Burutu Council, with some massive projects in just 100 days in office. They prayed for him for God’s guidance and protection, to enable him administer the council area with wisdom and in good health throughout his tenure.

The former woman leader, Mrs. Georgina Evah urged the Chairman to “talk less and listen more”, and that it is the best road that leads to success in any administration.

She pledged the loyalty of the women to him.  She  said; ”Hon. Angele is a practical man who is ready to impact on the lives of Burutu people.”

The chairman of Burutu, Mr. Joseph described Hon. Angele as an epitome of light.

His words; ‘‘Burutu has not had it so well in many years, before Hon. Godknows Angele, who has brought light to the council area. Burutu has been in a deplorable state, darkness, pain and sorrow has hitherto ruled over the area, but today, we are celebrating light everywhere and the provision of other social amenities,’’ he added.

The high point of the event was when the council Chairman mandated the traditional ruler of Sembiri kingdom, HRM Pere Charles Ayemi-Botu, to administer the commissioning of the  projects in the council, in his 100 days office.

The Monarch promptly obliged and some of the key projects commissioned by the HRM, Pere Charles Ayemi-Botu were the renovation of the council secretariat complex to create conducive and functional work environment for career civil servants and the political class, renovation of the Chairman  and Vice Chairman’s quarters, renovation of the seaside pavilion, renovation and provision of medical equipment to the primary health care center, Burutu and others.

Hon. Godknows Angele has on his assumption of office, assured the people of Burutu Local Government Area that his administration would embark on more capital projects across all the wards of the local government before his tenure expires, with primary focus on the area of health.

However, in a conversation with GbaramatuVoice, the chairman advised the people of Burutu to imbibe a positive maintenance culture.

He said; ”It is one thing to execute a project and another is to maintain it. It is only in team spirit that Burutu will have the desired results.

“I also urge youths, leaders and all other stakeholders to put all hands on deck for this government to succeed.”

The council boss expressed his gratitude to the Governor of Delta Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa for the opportunity given him, to serve his people by conducting a credible local government election and urged the people to go out en masse and vote for Okowa in the 2019 governorship election.
