..Says it’s a plan to wipe out the people of the Niger Delta

President Muhammadu Buhari, the National Assembly and the international community have been called upon to stop the ongoing onslaught and bombing of Ajapa community in Ese-Odo Local Government Area of Ondo State by the Nigerian military, under the Operation Delta Safe.

A human rights group, Foundation for Human Rights and Anti-Corrrupption Crusade, FHRCC made this call on Wednesday in Warri in a statement made available to Gbaramatu Voice

The statement signed by the group’s National President, Alaowei Ebikonbowei Cleric Esqr said FHRACC received a distress call from Ajapa community in which it was reported that after successfully razing down five houses at about 5:00pm yesterday, the military resumed their hostility in the community this morning at about 10:00am destroying many houses, fearing that this action by the military may likely result to more human casualties, especially the defenceless women, children and the aged ones in an unimaginable proportion.

The statement reads in part, “As we speak now according to the caller, the military is invading the Community with seven gunboats. They first came yesterday around 5: pm to burn about five houses in the Community. Again, they are back to the Community today around 10: am this morning and have being destroying the town without any resistance. There is likely human casualties, especially the defenceless women, children and the aged ones in an unimaginable proportion. The world should rise in defence of the Ajapa people. The military high command should call their boys to order before they commit genocide.”

FHRACC alleged that the ongoing onslaught in Ajapa community by the Federal Government led Nigerian military was a well-planned action to wipe out the Niger Delta people particularly the Ijaws.

It added that the Government value the oil more than the people of Niger Delta, hence wiping them out so as to take full control of their oil.

“This is what we have been saying that there is a sinister plan to wipe out all Niger Delta communities in order to protect their oil interest. The Government value the oil more than the people of Niger Delta. Why must Ajapa Community be sacrificed for the sins of one man? The invasion is beyond the criminal syndicate that has been terrorising Lagos and environs. This is purely an act of aggression against innocent and peace-loving Nigerians. The Nigerian government is manifesting its evil agenda against the people of the Niger Delta”, the statement added

According to FHRACC, excuse by the military that Ajapa harbours criminals hence her bombing was not acceptable, recalling that this has been the military modus operandi of invading the Niger Delta communities.

While wondering why a community should be sacrificed for a single man’s sin, FHRACC argued that there was no justification for such gross abuse of human rights in any part of the world.

Gbaramatu Voice reliably gathered that Ajapa bombing was a fallout of the military engagement with one Ossy Ibori, a notorious criminal who has been terrorising Lagos, Ogun and Ondo States.

It was further gathered from a reliable source that the late Sea Piracy kingpin has been on the wanted list of security operatives, and was killed in a shoot out by the JTF on the 2nd of May, 2017

While admiting that the military can carry out search operation in any suspected environment, FHRACC argued that the criminal has no militant camp in anywhere around the community, therefore the bombing was uncalled for.
